It's Not Goodbye; It's See You Soon

san francisco elopements

Things have been quiet around here for quite awhile so you may have already figured this out but, I seemed to have jumped off the blogging train without realizing it right away. Having a kid has triggered new transitions in nearly every aspect of my life, including professionally, and since the new year is a good time for new beginnings, this was the perfect time to once again, begin anew. A fresh start, so to speak.

My heart has been full of love and pride for the weddings I've shot over the last five years and even more so for the wonderful couples I've had the honor of meeting. But those shoots came with a price - weekends away, nearly every weekend, for a good 5-6 months out of the year. It's a tough schedule to maintain with a small child and a husband you actually want to spend time with. So I am now, officially, moving away from shooting full-day weddings and instead focusing my love and attention on elopements and portrait work. And with that new business focus comes ... a new website and blog! (See there's some good news here!) The new site lives at the same address but from this point onward, all my blogging endeavors will be here.

Twentieth Street will stay live for a little bit longer, in case there are old posts you'd like to revisit or recipes you'd like to test out, but all new posts will be happening over at the new space. I hope you'll stop by and say hello. Or, better yet, sign up for our newsletter to stay in touch! I'll be sharing photography tips, tutorials, business and personal updates, and some special promotions exclusively for email subscribers.

I can't tell you how much it has meant to me to have this space over the last 7 (!) years. You, my friends, have been a source of inspiration, motivation, confidence, and joy through everything from studying for the bar exam to the difficult decision to leave my job and start a business to planning a wedding and preparing for parenthood. You've brought more smiles than you can ever know and you've allowed me the opportunity to truly become involved in a community. I hope you'll stick with me through this next phase of the journey. I'm honestly not sure if I can do it without you, or that I'd want to!

Golden Gate Park Family Photos | The Maldonado Family

family portrait photography san francisco

We met up right after naptime. It was a crisp, chilly, but ever-so-bright afternoon and we did our best to keep the warm sun on us at all times. Little J, with his first birthday just around the corner, doled out the dimpled smiles like a Big Boy who totally knew what was up. The pride and love from Mom & Dad radiated for the camera.

Of course, Mom & Dad need a shot together, too. Surviving the first year with baby is a milestone worth commemorating with a portrait!
