We started off on a walk through the neighborhood and explored the Fillmore Street steps. There were so many hidden gems along the way - mossy stairways, overgrown gardens, and beautifully bright buildings just begging to be photographed.
After our jaunt through the steps, we looped through Levi's Plaza with the plan of heading back to their apartment to change and grab a few photos with the dog. But Levi's Plaza had other ideas. This awesome tree just off the sidewalk caught my eye with perfect golden light shining through its branches. It may look like we were wandering through wilderness but the city skyline and North Beach homes are actually just a few blocks behind us!
We finally headed back to their place for a little wardrobe change but, once again, that soft golden fall light just couldn't be ignored. Despite the unappealing surroundings (to the right of the frame was busy 5pm traffic and to the left was a totally dried out lawn area -thanks drought!) and some not-very-pretty buildings, the light was too perfect not to stop for a few quick frames.
And, of course, the session wouldn't be complete without a full family photo.
Then up to the rooftop to catch the sunset. It was the perfect afternoon.
