Old Speedway Meadow Wedding | Katy & Alex

Katy, originally from Virginia, and Alex, who hails from Sacramento, love living in San Francisco. Together, they take full advantage of everything the city has to offer - the scenic hiking trails, waterfront running paths, and eclectic restaurants are just a few of their favorite things. So when it came time to plan their wedding, a San Francisco theme was a natural fit. The couple knew that for many of their friends and family, this would be a destination wedding so they chose to give them the full San Francisco experience.

After a stunning first look on the Embarcadero, we headed over to Golden Gate Park for their ceremony in Old Speedway Meadow. Now, if you are even just a little bit familiar with San Francisco and all its microclimates, you're probably thinking it was cold and foggy on the day of their wedding. But you'd be wrong. So wrong. The beautiful blue sky burst open and let the sun shine down on their intimate wedding ceremony. Afterwards, their loved ones headed over to Greens where they were treated to sunset views of the Golden Gate Bridge, delicious food, a fantastic dance party, and yummy end-of-the-night treats (who can say no to a Reese's peanut butter cup?).

One of my favorite parts of the reception was the Cake vs. Pie table. This is probably the one thing Katy and Alex disagree on. Which is better, cake or pie? They had a table with various and, rather than doing a traditional cake-cutting, they served up slices of both and had their guests vote with their forks. This is one battle I foresee raging on through a lifetime of family holidays and events but when cake and pie are both available and ready for the taking, are there really any losers?

Reese's peanut butter cups from the newlywed Reeses? What a cute, punny thank you for their friends and family!
