A Day in Pacifica | Baby's First Trip to the Beach

The Husband and I both had the weekend off (I've had weddings five of the last six weekends!) so we decided to take advantage and spend some quality family time together. We didn't want to go too far else waste our Saturday in the car, so we decided on an afternoon in Pacifica. Just a short 20-minute drive from our apartment, we found delicious Mexican food at a family-owned and -operated restaurant right off Highway 1, an awesome little cafe built in an old train car, and a beautifully dramatic California beach to sit beside while sipping our coffee. On the way home, we stopped at a roadside barbecue joint allegedly owned by Hell's Angels to grab a to-go plate of ribs and pulled pork for dinner. Of course, I didn't take any photos of the actual food because, you know, get in mah belly, but trust me it was delicious. I'm already planning to hit up the barbecue joint again for some brisket since they were out when we made our Saturday stop!

We weren't originally planning to dress Rico up for Halloween since we wouldn't be doing any trick-or-treating this year, but my FIL gave him the cutest little Superman outfit and I just couldn't resist making him Clark Kent/Superbaby. The costume actually turned out to be quite practical - the two layers of his Clark Kent outfit kept him cozy during the chilly morning and by the time it warmed up in the afternoon, he was able to "transform" into Superbaby!

This was technically Rico's first trip to the beach but he was far more interested in his fingers than the ocean.  Way to be a typical four-month old, kid.  Lucky for him we live on the coast so even though it was his first beach visit, it certainly won't be his last.

We attempted a family selfie, "attempted" being the operative word there. Apparently, his ginormous sun hat is also part of the family.

All in all, it was a lovely day and a super easy trip from San Francisco.  If you're ever in the area, here are the places we visited:

Guerrero's Taqueria
P-Town Cafe
Rockaway Beach
Gorilla Barbecue

How was your Halloween weekend?
