Twosday | Spotted in Nature

With the longer days, warmer weather, and abundant blossoms, I just can't stop taking pictures of flowers when I'm out in nature.

Happy Weekend & Some Web Love

"san diego beach scene"
Prints available for purchase at The Print Shop
Happy Friday lovelies!  This weekend is the unofficial start to summer so a little beach-y photo seemed appropriate.  Our only plan for this weekend is to not make any plans.  Instead, we're just going to do whatever we feel like doing and enjoy a little bit of down time before things get crazy again in June.  Of course, that could mean we end up doing nothing that we really want to do because everyone else jumped on the planning bandwagon for Memorial Day but we kinda don't care.  I'm sure barbeque will be eaten at some point this weekend, but even if we just end up in a movie theater marathon, I'll still be a happy gal.  Do you have any fun plans for the long weekend?

* * * * * * * * * *

I kind of love the idea of a little wine-tasting and a farmer's market lunch to kick off the weekend.

After all, you know what they say - you are what you eat.

And how about some delicious, refreshing boozy "jello" shots to go with all that yummy summer food?

I drove by this house recently on my way home from a shoot and it is, most definitely, cray.

But I doubt you'll find artwork like this on the refrigerator walls.

What true optimism looks like.

Number 2 actually happened to me in Whole Foods.  And number 12 = truth.

For those of you looking for beautiful, affordable wedding albums to make on your own, Albums Remembered is worth a glance.

And, in case you missed it, I shared some dreamy black-and-white boudoir photos earlier this week.  Ooh la la!

Happy Weekend!

Diana & Li Wei | A San Francisco Engagement

Diana & LiWei are currently managing a long distance relationship so they don't often get a lot of quality time together.  As tough as the distance can be in the day-to-day, it makes reunions all the more special and meaningful.  Holding hands, nuzzling and snuggling with each other.  All the little love kisses and sweet caresses carry so much more significance when they must communicate days, weeks, or months worth of love all in one simple gesture.  Diana & Li Wei were so happy to just be with each other, to share those little moments with each other, and boy does it shows in their photos!

We started the session off in my own neighborhood of Potrero Hill, which was filled with sunny views of the city skyline and lots of other fun and colorful urban backdrops.  The two had a blast exploring an unfamiliar area and seeing the city from a different perspective.  We then chased the setting sun to one of my personal favorite shooting spots in the city, McLaren Park.  With its towering trees, rolling hills, and tall swaying grasses, you'd never guess we were still inside the city limits.  It was the perfect way to wind down the session before heading off to a romantic Saturday dinner - just the two of them.

Boudoir in Black & White

"boudoir photography san francisco"There's something so dreamy and romantic about black and white in boudoir photography.  Something raw and mesmerizing that grips you and pulls you into the subject.  Color would just distract you.  Color would tempt you.  Color would have you gaze only at her clothes, the room around her, the superficial details.

What really matters, what really draws you in and makes you see a little deeper, is her.

Eleven Questions

Recently, the lovely Janet tagged me in a little game of Q&A called Eleven Questions.  It seemed like fun, so I gave it a shot...

"eleven questions blogger game"

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF CHEESE?
Humboldt Fog.  I love it with a little honey and some apple slices.

2. WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
Professionally, shooting more boudoir and glam sessions.  Personally, long summer days and sweet summer fruits.

3. HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE YOUR LAST BIRTHDAY?
We went to my favorite French restaurant here in the city where I ate a juicy steak and drank luscious red wine.  I wanted to keep it simple.  And delicious.

4. WHAT IS ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
A clock, a lamp, a daily journal that I often forget to write in, a few books, my Kindle with even more books, and a guardian angel picture that used to belong to my grandma.  I've kept it somewhere near my bed since she passed away twenty years ago.

5. WHAT DO YOU ORDER FROM THE MOVIE THEATER CONCESSION STAND?
Sour Patch Kids!  But I may sneak a bit of the Husband's popcorn, too.

6. DO YOU HAVE A GARDEN? WHAT'S GROWING?
No, not yet.  But someday I'd like to have one with some herbs and veggies, and some pretty flowers here or there.

7. ANY SUMMER PLANS?
Just shooting lots of fun weddings and making good use out of our ice cream maker.

8. WHICH TV COUPLE(S) ARE YOU ROOTING FOR?
This was actually a tough one to answer because it's hard to root for anyone on Game of Thrones right now (you know they're just going to get killed anyway) and I don't really care about Don & Megan at the moment.  But Julia and Joel, Maggie and Glen, and Regina, aka theEvil Queen, and Robin Hood (don't judge...) are a few that come to mind.  Can you tell I watch a lot of TV?

9. WHAT'S THE LAST THING YOU BOUGHT?
Groceries at Trader Joe's.  I'm crazy like that.

10. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT?
Coffee in the morning.

11. WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEEK?
Molly's lab results came back and it was good news.  The tumors were benign!  Her recovery is coming along nicely, too.  I swear, if it weren't for the scar on her shaved little tummy, you'd never guess she had major surgery less than a week ago.  She's a tough little cookie, that one.

* * * * * * * * *

The rules say I now have to tag 11 peeps with 11 new questions.  So Mish, Theresa, Ruth, Megan, Nicole, Meg, Ellie, Victoria, Alyson, Amye, and Bonnie - here are your eleven questions, if you'd like to play along.  :)

1. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
2. If you could live anywhere in the world for just one year, where would you choose?
3. Who (or what) inspires you the most?
4. What accomplishment are you most proud of?
5. What advice would you give your 16-year old self?
6. What super power would you most like to have?
7. What is your favorite junk food item (you know, the one you definitely shouldn't eat but you just can't resist)?
8. What is your secret/hidden talent?
9. What is the weirdest thing you believed as a child?
10. If you won the lottery tomorrow, what are the first three things you'd do?
11. Beach or mountains?

A Wedding Celebration at Notre Dame Des Victoires

The day was warmer than usual for the season.  A bright fall sun filled the cloudless blue sky as the two lovebirds prepared to join their lives together forever.

"wedding day photos at mountain lake park"
At separate ends of the church, LizAnne put the finishing touches on her bridal look with the help of her mother and best friends while Josh waited patiently with his guys.  And boy, was it worth the wait.  As she entered the church, with mom and dad by her side, Josh's eyes lit up and his breath stopped for just a second.  The sight of his beautiful bride walking down the aisle was literally breathtaking for him.  The two held hands, sharing stolen glances and sweet smiles, throughout the ceremony until they were finally pronounced Husband and Wife.  All the day's nerves and anxiety melted away with those few simple words.

After some family photos at the church, we headed out to Mountain Lake Park for wedding party photos.  The park holds special memories for LizAnne and Josh, especially of evening strolls in the setting sun and a particularly memorable engagement session shot at the park by LizAnne's best friend and maid of honor.  So it was a natural fit for wedding day photos, too.  The couple's sense of humor shows through in the photos and that same playful spirit of joy carried over to the reception, where the dance floor was full right up to the very end of the night.  When the couple and I first met, I remember LizAnne describing their vision for the day as "one giant love party."  Vision accomplished.

LizAnne & Josh - I'm so honored you chose me to capture your beautiful day.  I have no doubt your future will be filled with many years of happiness and many more awesome love parties.  ♥
