Christina & Alexis | Destination Wedding in Cancun

When I walked into her room that morning, the mood was as bubbly as the champagne-filled mimosas she and her bridesmaids were sipping. Laughter filled the air while Christina and her two bridesmaids reminisced about the past and speculated about what lies ahead - babies and anniversaries, new homes and family vacations - and all the little things that make up a life well lived and loved. There was no doubt in her mind this decision, marrying Lex in front of their most cherished friends and family, was absolutely the right decision. The day wasn't exactly a smooth one, though. Getting ready took a bit longer than planned, the officiant arrived nearly half an hour late, and the gray clouds threatening rain throughout the ceremony finally burst shortly after their first kiss as husband and wife, leaving only a few minutes for portraits before seeking shelter indoors. But at the end of it all, none of that matter. When all was said and done, Christina was married to her best friend, confidante, lover, and partner for life, Alexis. And all was right in the world.

Christina & Alexis' destination wedding at the Azul Beach Resort in Cancun was recently featured on Melissa Hearts Weddings. Check out the feature to read more about the couple's sweet love story and a few extra details about their colorful, multi-cultural wedding day!

Since the rain came shortly after the ceremony, we didn't have too much time for portraits. Luckily, we'd planned to do a day-after newlywed session the following evening to take full advantage of the stunning location and capture the weekend as fully as possible.  Stayed tuned later for a glimpse at their beautiful newlywed beach session!

  3. Beautiful work! I especially love the iPhone shot - what a creative way to document the inevitable and make it work so well. Cell phone shooters can be the hardest thing to overcome at a wedding for a photographer, but they aren't going anywhere, so we have to learn to adapt. Bravo! Just perfect, all of it!

  4. Thanks Paulette! It's true - cell phones (and iPads and regular cameras, too) can be quite a challenge for us wedding photographers but I try to use it to my advantage when I can. ;)
