Happy Weekend

"bridge in florence italy"
That little photo is from our trip to Italy back in 2009.  I've been going through old photos lately, looking to see if there are any worth printing and hanging (there are!).

It's been freakishly warm around here lately - 74 degrees yesterday, and low 70s predicted through the weekend.  It's strange to think the rest of the country has been submerged in full-on Winter while we've never really left September.  Temps in the 70s probably sound pretty nice to a some of you, but you know what else is nice?  Seasons.  Granted, part of the reason I left Chicago was because I was over the brutal winters, but I can't help but feel a twinge of nostalgia when I think about walking down the city sidewalks on a gray January day, ice and snow crunching under my warm winter boots, little white snowflakes melting on the fur trim around my hood, while cradling a hot chocolate in my mitten-covered hands.  Instead, I'll spend this warm January weekend doing a little work, shooting an engagement session outdoors, and perhaps going for a hike through the redwoods - mostly likely in a t-shirt instead of a down coat.  It's not too bad, I guess.

What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. I miss seasons too! I am enjoying this weather, but we need rain! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  2. Honestly, I'm really not nostalgic for winter anymore - bring on the spring time!

  3. Ha! I think I am still missing winter because we never really had one this year. We were in Argentina (where it was summer) during the cold front that swept the country in December and by the time we came back to SF, temps were in the 60s/70s! Sunny & 70 is nice, but 90% of the state is now in extreme drought conditions and some of the ski resorts in Tahoe still haven't opened for winter, so I'm crossing my fingers for some snow/rain soon!

  4. Oh my goodness, I know. I really hope you guys get some rain SOON (or divert it from the Northeast)

Tell me more.
