Wise Words | Pretty, Witty, & Gracious

Source

This week's Wise Words are, once again, a much-needed reminder.  I've given up on any attempts to "be pretty" and the wittiness just comes on its own, almost as if it's evolved as a tool for survival, but being gracious is not nearly as easy as it sounds.  And it's about so much more than just graciously accepting a compliment or invitation or gift.  It's about being courteous and kind in all that you do and with everyone you come across.  It's something I strive for in all aspects of my business but so very rarely achieve in my personal life. I 'm working on changing that for the better and, like most things worth having, it's a constant work-in-progress.

  2. Yes, graciousness is the hardest to achieve (prettiness is just born-into luck, so not an achievement) and needs constant work. I always make a point of being friendly to the supermarket cashier, the waiter, be happy about other peoples' achievements and smile when I receive a compliment without immediately replying "oh, that old thing, pulled it out from the back of my wardrobe..." It takes work, but it seems to make me a happier person in return which then again seems to make me more gracious. Sorry, rambling on, hope it makes sense... xo

  3. In order to be gracious, must you be kind? I think the answer is yes and kindness in dire situations is the hardest to master
