Wanderlust | Galapagos Islands

all sources can be found here

The Fancy Fiance and I have been throwing around ideas for our honeymoon.  We basically want to go everywhere at this point so it's going to be a while before we narrow down our options.  One idea I've been kicking around is the Galapagos Islands.  A friend mentioned it to me a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get the idea out of my mind.  It looks like every color in nature's palette can be found there.  And they have a native bird called a Blue-footed Booby.  I rest my case.

Where did / would you go for your honeymoon?

  1. We're basically on the same boat. There's just so many honeymoon worthy places to go to. This is on our list too! =)

  2. Wow, that looks amazing! There are so many places I'd still like to visit, it's really hard to choose just one. I would love to see New Zealand though... xo

  3. Oooh, these photos are definitely inspiring wanderlust in me, too! The Galapagos look awesome. My fiance and I are trying to nail down a honeymoon destination, too, and are leaning toward Iceland at the moment. I'm dying to see New Zealand, too, but not sure how I will deal with a 28-hour-plus flight!

  4. Omg that would be a KICK ASS destination. Is it expensive to go there/stay there? We did stereotypical Cancun all inclusive resort and just laid by the pool and beach for a week. Same time zone as the Midwest so we didn't waste time dealing with jet lag. Didn't even do any excursions--we decided that we wanted a "boring" and lazy vacation after all the wedding and job stress we'd just gone through! The thought of planning a complicated honeymoon trip was just more than we could take. Hopefully we'll be able to do more involved and itinerized trips in the future! (hello Europe?)

  6. Yes -they are definatly on my bucket list. But for me, honeymoon would be safari then beach-so kenya or Tanzania-because after safari you could either go to beautiful Lamu or ZANZIBAR! Now that is sorted-just need to find the groom!

  11. galapagos intrigues me a lot but i worry that it wouldn't be relaxing enough for me. like i can't go lay on the beach because 30 endangered species are hanging out on the beach. but it looks stunning and is definitely a once in a lifetime trip. i think of going everywhere for my honeymoon, too, so i don't blame you on having a hard time making a decision.

  12. These images make me swoon!
B and I went Puerto Morales, Mexico in the Myan Riviera. It was gorgeous! I'm ready to go back. We're thinking about celebrating our 3 year anniversary in the Bajamas or St Lucia later this year though.

You're going to have a blast no matter where you two go!

  16. My hubs and I went to Hawai'i. Stereotypical, yes, but still awesome. It was the first time for either of us. We picked Hawai'i because friends were getting married there, and we just extended our trip to two weeks :-)

I've been to NZ, and it is excellent if you can go sometime that is not our summer. I'd go back in a heartbeat, but this whole being a teacher thing with no school year breaks makes it hard. On the bright side, the flight is actually only 13 hours from LA. It is long but doable, especially if you can sleep okayish on a plane (I took tylenol PM to help).

I have also heard really good things from friends who went to the US Virgin Islands for their honeymoons.

If you can afford the Galapagos, I think that is awesome and a unique trip. Plus, Ecuador is a nice country if it's politically stable when you go.
