On My Mind This Monday

I just realized last night that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away.

Weren't we just lamenting the fact that it didn't feel like fall yet?

And now fall is almost over!  Funny how time flies when you're having fun.

Or something like that.

But ... this revelation also means there's less than two weeks until I can decorate for Christmas.

I feel very strongly about waiting until after Thanksgiving to bust out the Christmas decor.

Halloween gets spooky scary ghouls and goblins.  Christmas gets all the cheer and happy tidings.

And what does Thanksgiving get?  Diddly squat.

Thanksgiving needs its time in the spotlight, too, you know.

Of course, as soon as the calendar flips to Friday (or Black Friday for many of you), it's time to bust out the eggnog, turn on some holiday tunes, and deck those halls with boughs of holly!

Or something like that.

Have you started decorating for the holidays yet?

  1. Not quite yet, but I do have lots of twinkle lights and candles everywhere - though that's "winter decoration" not "christmas decoration" ;-) My tree doesn't even go up until Christmas eve, but I do have a Advent wreath every year and decorate a little bit every weekend throughout December... Have a lovely week xo

  2. I totally agree - Thanksgiving always gets overlooked! I heard someone say the other day that they "still have their pumpkins out" as if they're supposed to put them away after Halloween. Pumpkins need to be out on Thanksgiving too! I am keeping my fall decor up until after Thanksgiving. But you bet I can't WAIT to decorate for Christmas when that day comes!!

  3. I have to agree, I feel strongly about waiting until Thanksgiving is over before decorating for Christmas too. You're darn right that means the day after Thanksgiving we're decking the halls. (:

Seriously though, where did November go?

  4. I always wish fall was a bit longer! It seems like winter drags on forever but fall is over before you know it!

(Love the new blog look - I've been dying to get a new look from BlogMilk but telling myself to wait at least a year from my last redo!)

  5. I totally agree about decorating for Christmas AFTER Thanksgiving. I mean, what's the rush?? There still will be a month to enough that Christmas cheer!

  6. I know! I mentioned to Mark yesterday and we were both thinking about where the year went! I don't know in the city, but here fall doesn't last very long. It is usually a couple of days of mild weather followed by a radical drop in the temperature!

I don't decorate for Christmas until Thanksgiving either! One holiday at a time :)

  7. Every year, after Thanksgiving, my parents put on Christmas music as we do the dishes. That's the first time Christmas is allowed to appear in the house. We decorate at some point after that, depending on who is home when.
