DC | Day 1

I originally planned to do a recap of our DC trip in just one post.  As I edited the photos, I realized there was no way I could do the trip justice in a single post.  We did soooooo much in the three days we were there!  And there's still soooooo much we didn't have enough time to see and do!  Needless to say, that town blew my mind.

On the day we arrived, we headed over to the American History Museum.  We spent about two hours in the wars exhibit alone and, after seeing about half of what the museum had to offer, we headed out to check out a few of the monuments before sunset.  Our first stop was the Washington Monument.  It was practically glowing in the warm golden sunlight.

Afterwards, we headed over to visit Mr. Lincoln but made a stop at the World War II Memorial on the way.  The Boyfriend's 91-year old grandfather is a World War II vet so this one was particularly cool to see.

And finally, we said hello to Honest Abe.  I think this one was The Boyfriend's fave.

  1. i have loved seeing your pics of DC, particularly as someone who grew up outside of DC. they are beautiful and really do the city justice. and that d-day quote...can you imagine how scared they must have been heading into that battle, knowing what a massacre it would be? i can't even. our armed forces have done so much for us over the years it's truly astounding.

  2. Lovely! I really adore DC. The Lincoln Memorial is one of my favorites. Even moreso after my penultimate visit to DC -- I went the weekend Obama was inaugurated (but sadly had to be back at work before the inauguration). He gave a speech at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, and it was truly inspiring. Such a beautiful, wonderful place.
