Wanderlust: Venice

posted on: 12.07.2011

I've got another case of wanderlust but this time it's for a place I've actually been to.  Maybe it's nostalgia?  Either way, I want to go back to Venice.  The Boyfriend and I went on a cold, rainy day in November, just over two years ago.  I absolutely loved it.  Because it was cold and rainy, there weren't many people out.  We had nothing on the agenda so we spent the day wandering the streets, ducking into shops to stay dry, and just letting ourselves be in the city.

What about you?  Ever been to Venice?  Any interest in going?

*I should tell you, the old man in the second to last photo was drinking red wine at 10 a.m., while we were drinking cappuccinos.  He's my idol now.

Italy, favourite place in the whole wide flipping world. I was there in July and it was 40 degrees and I was just about dying with the 88 million other tourists crowded into that tiny city but I couldn't have fallen in love any harder than I did. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful photos! Especially the one looking out into the piazza. Sepia suits Venice in the rain.

I'd love to go - I do hear it's super crowded with tourists and smells bad in the summer. But you can't tell from your pictures!

I have a serious case of wanderlust myself, & was actually in the middle of tossing around posting something similar... Wanderlust: Italy!

I've never been...& have been collecting images of Italy on pinterest & really, really, REALLY want to go with my husband someday soon.

Gorgeous photos Stephanie! I've been to Venice a couple times and I enjoy looking at the architecture. However, it gets pretty smelly in the summer due to sewage problems and floods a lot during the winter and spring seasons.
