My Little Love Affair

I have a little confession to make.  I'm not usually one to confess my deep dark secrets to strangers, but I think we've really become much closer recently.  I really do.  So I feel comfortable telling you this.  I, um... I haven't been entirely ... faithful.  I know it's terrible.  I feel so guilty and conflicted but I just can't help myself.  Yes, it's true.  I've been cheating ... on Summer.  The beaches and sand, the ice cream and flip-flops - it's all grand but ... Fall has always been my one true love.  As much as I try to deny it and be happy with Summer, it just isn't working out.  I mean, I love Summer but I'm not in love with Summer, you know?  At least, not anymore.  I am in love with Fall.

The crisp air breezing by my cheeks.  The rust-, saffron-, and burnt orange-colored leaves drifting lazily to the ground.  Pumpkin spiced lattes.  Pumpkin bread.  Butternut squash soup.  Thanksgiving.  Football.  Lounging by the fireplace.  Tea with honey and lemon.  Cozy sweaters.  Knee-high boots.  Plush scarves.  Hot toddies.  Corn mazes.  Apple-picking.  Apple cider.  I love it all and, even though it's still July,  I pretty much can't wait for it to be Fall.

  1. I JUST had a conversation about this with my best friend yesterday, over some big hot steaming white mochas. We were saying how our love affair with Fall/cold weather makes us want to drink cozy drinks, even when it's hot and sunny out:-) xoxo

  3. I still love summer, but, to be fair, it's cool and foggy here on the Central Coast so it's not like I'm braving the heat or anything.

  4. oh my goodness, we have had the mildest summer ever, it feels like we are already in fall. However, I do have to admit that fall is my fave fashion month. I'm a layers girl through and through. And your picks are absolutely beautiful. I'd happily wear them all. xx veronika

  6. Oh my gosh! I couldn't agree MORE! I live in Arizona so our summer last for-evahhhhh! I mean let's talk about 6 months of summer (May-October). I'm in the same boat... so over summer and can't wait for fall. I was just walking through a craft store this weekend and they already have a bunch of fall decor and candles out. Love those smells! Ah! Wish I could wake up tomorrow and have it be scarf, booties, and pumpkin spiced latte weather!

  8. I am so with you on fall...it has always been my favorite season. But, I have to admit that I am not quite over summer here yet. You see, I feel like summer has been cheating on me...instead of providing with with the gorgeous pacific northwest summers that I have become accustomed to, summer has instead been spreading it's warm sunshine in nearly every other part of this country. So, with that said, I still have a few issues to resolve with summer before I decide to commit to fall :)

  9. I get giddy over summer and content over fall. Summer is just so easy, but the transition to Fall is so delicious and warm. I don't know now. You got me thinking..

Thanks for your comment. I wanted the blog to reflect me. I don't know how people take to that kind of change so it's nice to hear from lovely people like you. Have a great week!

  10. I LOVE FALL TOO! I love to call it Autumn more because it sounds nicer! I love the crisp air, the warm drinks, the colors of the leaves, the boots, the fashion, the tights that appear, the slight breezes, and walking through leaves! :D <3 I love Autumn so much! We should be besties, get coffee and just talk about it!

  13. This post makes me a little bit sad.... but only because I love fall too, and I'm worried I won't really get to experience it anymore since we moved to Florida. I think that my very favorite Pumpkin Spice lattes won't feel as heartwarming when it's 85 degrees outside. Ugh.

I have to say, I'm in love with that Anthro Talauma tunic too... and I have those boots next to it. I'd love to wear them with some skinny jeans and sip a latte under a tree with leaves changing colors.

I think I feel a visit to Michigan coming in the near fall... I mean near future. (:
